Collection: Election campaign materials

Does your campaign need to be visible - and at the same time professional in both expression and logistics?
In this collection, we have gathered election articles and election campaign merchandise that make it easy to create recognition on the street, at election rallies, at stands and at events. Here you will find both classic promotional items for distribution and more “premium” products with high utility value that people actually take home and use again.

Election items are about making the message visible at the moment the dialogue occurs - and extending the campaign's reach afterwards via products that are used in everyday life (e.g. drinking bottles, mugs, tote bags and key rings).

It's about quality, uniformity across candidates/departments - and a process that can be scaled from small runs to larger campaigns.

Popular election items (quick overview)

  • Visibility on clothing: t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, caps, hats and neck warmers
  • Stand & distribution: badges, pins, pens, candy and water
  • Practical “DK weather” favorites: raincoats and umbrellas
  • High utility value: thermos mugs/mugs, thermos bottles, notebooks, tote bags and gym bags
  • Cykel-Danmark: saddle covers with print (very visible in the street scene)

How to choose correctly (without wasting your budget)

  1. Choose 1–2 “mass items” for high volume (e.g. badges + pen or candy).
  2. Choose 1 “team item” that creates a uniform look (e.g. t-shirt/hoodie + cap/hat).
  3. Choose 1 “keeper” with high utility value (e.g. thermos mug, bottle or tote bag).

How to use election articles optimally in a Danish election campaign

Election merchandise (also called campaign merchandise or campaign promotional items) are physical products with prints that help you be seen, remembered and recognized – where the conversation with voters occurs: on the street, at stands, at election meetings, events and in the local area. The point is not just to “hand something out”, but to use election merchandise strategically to reinforce your message and create more meaningful meetings.

At the same time, election merchandise is an effective way to stand out when voters are met by many faces, messages and posters at the same time. It makes a difference especially when you combine visibility (clothing, badges/pins) with use value (drinks, mugs, bags) and “dialogue openers” (candy/water).

What is a “good” election article?

A good election article typically has at least one of these three characteristics:

  1. It creates recognition (colors, logo, candidate name/slogan)
  2. It is used again (high utility value = more exposures over time)
  3. It makes it easy to start a conversation (small gift that feels relevant)

Industry data also indicates that promotional products often stay in the home/everyday life for a long time – and that “staying power” is a central part of the effect (the longer the lifespan, the more impressions).

  • 1. “Mass items” for high volume

For distribution at stands, pedestrian streets, door-to-door and events:

    • Badges/pins, stickers
    • Pens, small notebooks
    • Candy, chocolate or water with label/print

Purpose: get many micro-meetings + many repeat views at a low price.

  • 2. “Team items” for candidates and volunteers

For those of you who need to be visible in the street scene and at events:

    • T-shirts/hoodies/crewnecks, caps/hats, possibly neck warmers
    • Possibly reflective/outdoor solutions in the dark/commuting time

Purpose: your look = more credibility + easier to spot from a distance.

  • 3. “Keepers” with high utility value

For meetings, debates, support events, partners and the “warm” contacts:

    • Mugs/thermos, drinking bottles, tote bags
    • Things that become part of everyday life and thus create long exposure

Purpose: fewer units – but higher quality and longer lifespan.

Design that works in election campaigns: 7 rules that get more views

An election article will only be effective if it can be read quickly in reality.

1. Keep the message short
1 slogan or 1 issue per product (not an entire election newspaper).

2. Prioritize recognition over details
Primary color + clear logo/sender provides quick identification.

3. Think about readability from a distance
Large typography, high contrast and simple shapes.

4. Use the same “campaign look” across
When water labels, badges and t-shirts are similar, recognition (and the recall effect) increases.

5. Add a simple CTA
For example, QR for candidate page, event registration or “read more” - especially relevant on labels, bags and printed surfaces.

6. Make the print realistic to produce
It affects both price and delivery. We highlight, among other things, our printing guide and the importance of motif, print size, colors (e.g. Pantone) and correct file format (vector).

7. Use the right print locations
Standard locations on textile (chest/back/sleeve) are often most effective – and it is possible to print in several places.

  • Stand and pedestrian street

The goal is to make people stop 10 seconds longer – and make it easy to remember you afterwards.

Tip: Use small “dialogue openers” (e.g. chocolate or candy) – it’s easy to hand out and often works as a natural icebreaker.

    Feel free to combine with:

    • Badge/pin (to be worn immediately)
    • A short CTA (QR/website/SoMe) on packaging, label or print
  • Commuter locations and morning activities

Here you win on quick relevance: something practical and “to-go”.

Logovand is a classic example, where there is space on the label for the logo, name and key issues, and where you can design the label so that it can be used across multiple campaigns.

  • Cycling Denmark: high visibility in the cityscape

A saddle cover can create extreme visibility because the message is not only seen by the recipient – but also by everyone else who passes the bike.

This works especially well if the colors match your visual identity (recognition from a distance).

  • “The Danish weather” (outdoors in the rain and wind)

The weather doesn't stop an election campaign – so think practically:

    • Umbrellas/raincoats for the team and volunteers make it easier to be out longer
    • At the same time, branding continues, even when it rains

Package ideas: ready-made election campaign kits that make shopping easy

If you want to make ordering and logistics easier, think in packages:

Election campaign starter package

Volunteer package

  • T-shirt/hoodie/crewneck with print + cap/Hue med logo
Use: recognizable team look across districts

Commuter package

  • Vand med logo + small snacks
Use: morning traffic, station areas, events

City campaign package

Sustainability in election campaigns: better elections without losing impact

Many campaigns want to signal responsibility. Here it makes sense to:

  • Choose products with a longer lifespan (keepers)
  • Choose alternatives to plastic where appropriate (e.g. recycled materials)
  • Avoid “disposable items” in too many varieties (rather fewer products, larger quantities and clearer expressions)

The 5 most common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

  1. Too many messages at once → choose one message per product

  2. No plan for distribution → decide where/when/who distributes

  3. Uneven design across all products → create a mini-design manual for the campaign

  4. Wrong timing → plan by production time from approval

  5. Too little “keeper” value → add 1–2 products with high everyday use (mugs/bottles/bags)

FAQ

For stands and handouts, it typically makes the most sense to use small, lightweight products that are easy to pass on: badges, pins, pens, candy, and water.

If you tell us how many people you expect to meet, we can help match quantity, budget, and a solution that is easy to handle logistically.

In Denmark, weather-safe products are often a hit. Raincoats and umbrellas work well because they both help the recipient in the moment and provide visibility when they are used.

For outdoor events, it can also make sense to think in terms of “layered” visibility with, for example, neck warmers, hats and caps.

If you want a uniform look, it is a good idea to standardize 1–2 “team items” (e.g. t-shirts/hoodies/crewnecks + cap/hat) and use the same colors and logo placement across all departments.

This makes it easier to reorder, distribute across multiple departments and maintain a professional look throughout the campaign period.

Products with high utility value typically provide longer exposure because they are taken home and used again. These can include drinking bottles, mugs/thermos, thermos flasks, tote bags, notebooks and key rings.

If the goal is visibility over time, we are happy to help point out “keeper” products that suit your target group and budget.
